POLICIES

ADDITIONAL DRIVER POLICY:
The following individuals, if 25 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver’s license, may drive the car with the renter’s prior permission:
* Renter’s employer (while on company business);
* Renter’s fellow employee (while on company business);
* Renter’s spouse or life partner.

The above additional drivers are considered “authorized drivers” and need not be present at the time of rental nor do they need to sign an additional driver form.

Other individuals may be listed as additional drivers, provided they are at least 25 years of age; present a valid driver’s license; present an Avis-honored charge card; and complete an additional driver form. An additional driver fee of $9.00 per day up to a $45.00 maximum charge will apply. This fee is payable at time of rental.

CREDIT AND DEBIT CARD POLICIES:
Avis accepts most major credit cards as credit identification at the time of rental. Some locations may not accept each of the referenced charge cards:

* Diners Club (US issued with MasterCard logo)

Upon returning the vehicle, Avis will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your Bank's procedures. The hold may take up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.

If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed, Avis will obtain additional authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges.

DEBIT CARD POLICIES:
Currently, debit cards (also known as bank cards) are not acceptable as credit identification at the time of rental at locations in Connecticut.
In the United States, Debit, Cash or Check cards can be used at the end for payment of rental charges.

FINES DURING TIME OF RENTAL:
Any parking tickets or traffic violations are the responsibility of the renter at the time the vehicle was rented.

OPTIONAL INSURANCE COVERAGES:
Avis offers several optional insurance plans and are available for an additional daily charge. Renters may (in many locations) purchase additional liability insurance at the time of rental. The Avis renter is responsible for all damage or theft of the Avis vehicle subject to certain exclusions contained in the Avis rental agreement.

For an additional fee, Avis will waive or limit the renter’s liability through the purchase of a Loss Damage Waiver at the time of rental. In some cases, renters may be covered for loss or damage to the renter vehicle by their personal insurance or charge card. Such coverage may contain a deductible or may not be primary. Please check with your insurance company or charge card company before you rent.

Here are the additional types of coverage offered:

AUTOMOBILE LIABILITY & PROPERTY DAMAGE PROTECTION:
Avis provides liability coverage for its vehicles as required by applicable law. In most instances, this will include coverage for the renter or authorized driver up to the financial responsibility limits of the applicable jurisdiction at no additional charge. In some states, the liability coverage provided is excess to any other applicable coverage. This means the renter’s personal liability insurance is used first and the Avis protection will not apply until the renter’s or driver’s insurance, if any, has been exhausted.

In some states the liability coverage that is provided is excess to any other applicable coverage. This means the renters personal automobile liability insurance is used first and the Avis protection will not apply until the renters/authorized drivers insurance, if any, has been exhausted. Please check with the rental agent or nearest Avis reservation center regarding the applicability of automobile liability coverage to specific locations.

ADDITIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE (ALI): Renter may purchase Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) at the time of rental. ALI provides additional protection for bodily injury, death or property damage and increase the limits to one million dollars. When ALI is purchased, Avis will always provide the Financial Responsibility Limits (FRL) on a primary basis.

Public Liability and Property Damage Protection:

PUBLIC LIABILITY:
Avis provides liability coverage for its vehicles as required by applicable law. In most instances, this will include coverage for the renter or authorized driver up to the minimum financial responsibility limits of the applicable jurisdiction at no additional charge. In some states the liability coverage which is provided is secondary to any other applicable coverage. This means the renters personal liability insurances used first and the Avis protection will not apply until the renter or drivers insurance, if any has been exhausted. Please check with the rental agent or nearest Avis reservation center regarding the applicability of secondary coverage to specific locations.

GROUP INSURANCE:
If an Avis vehicle is being used to transport a group (such as a team, camp, etc.), the group must provide to Avis with their own group liability insurance. Call 800-331-1212 for more information.

LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (LDW):
Renters may purchase loss damage waiver (LDW) that reduces the financial liability for loss or damage to the Avis car as long as they comply with the terms of the Avis rental agreement. Cost of LDW will vary by location, car group and rate. If you have rental car coverage through your personal insurance or charge card, LDW offers maximum protection while your personal insurance or charge car may contain a deductible.

OPTIONAL PROTECTION PACKAGES:
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), PAI-Plus, and Personal Effects Protection (PEP) are optional coverages available at time of rental. PAI and PEP are sold together as an optional protection package. PAI-Plus may be purchased individually.

PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI):
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) provides accidental death benefits and emergency medical expense benefits to the renter and all passengers in the Avis car. The renter is covered 24 hours a day during the rental for the following:
* $2,500.00 medical coverage for injuries due to an accident
* $250.00 for ambulance expenses

The passengers are covered while in the car for the following:
* $2,500.00 medical coverage for injuries due to accident
* $250.00 for ambulance expenses

PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE PLUS (PAI-Plus):
PAI-Plus is designed to meet the needs of renters who require extended amounts of insurance coverage (i.e. visitors from foreign countries). The renter is covered 24 hours a day during the rental for the following:
* $250,000.00 accidental death
* $2,500.00 medical coverage for injuries due to an accident
* $250.00 for ambulance expenses

The passengers are covered while in the car for the following:
* $125,000.00 accidental death
* $2,500.00 medical coverage for injuries due to accident
* $250.00 for ambulance expenses

PERSONAL EFFECTS PROTECTION (PEP):
Personal Effects Protection insures the personal belongings of the renter and the immediate family members who are traveling with the renter. The maximum coverage is $600.00 per claim, with a maximum coverage for individuals of $1,800.00.
